Extending and refunding an Estravel Gift Voucher
A gift voucher is usually a contract with a sunset clause and a time limit within which to use the services. If this time limit is missed, provided that it is clearly and unambiguously stated (i.e. through no fault of the seller), the trader named in the voucher is no longer obliged to comply with the consumer’s request. Thus, once a gift voucher has expired, the gift voucher will not be renewed and the money for the unused voucher will not be refunded, unless the seller agrees to do so, either in good faith or for an additional fee. For this purpose, it is a good idea to contact the seller before purchasing a gift voucher to enquire about this possibility.
Rules of Gift Voucher Renewal:
- The validity period of the gift voucher is indicated on the voucher. The validity period of the gift voucher starts from the date of purchase, i.e. from the moment it is paid for.
- The validity period of a gift voucher may be extended for a voucher which is unused but is about to expire or has already expired and it is less than two (2) weeks after expiry.
- A gift voucher can only be extended once.
- An extension may be granted for a Gift Voucher which is intact and clearly displays the Gift Voucher code.
- The Gift Voucher can be extended for an additional period of up to six (6) weeks (starting from the date of extension).
- There is a service fee of EUR 10.00 for the renewal of the Gift Voucher.
- To extend the validity period of the Gift Voucher, the Purchaser must send a request stating: his/her name, surname, contact telephone number, e-mail address, the number of the Gift Voucher, the reason why the Gift Voucher has not been used, and enclose a copy of the Gift Voucher.
